Woggles are a fantastic and mostly missed opportunity for Packs
First... exactly what is a Woggle? A Woggle is simply a neckerchief slide, but the name enables so much more fun for our Cub Scout programs. What is great is that anything can actually be a Woggle enabling for some new found creativity within your Cub Scout Pack program.
Woggles for Milestones
Here is a recent Woggle that I prototyped for a Fishing trip.
At first, I was going to give this out to biggest fish of the day, but that obviously creates a problem. I can only give out one Woggle per fishing event and the same Scout may win it over and over and over again. Then it occurred to me that what I really want is for every Cub to eventually receive this Woggle so why not make it a "first fish" achievement and thus the "Pack 948 First Fish Woggle" was born. This prototype was made using paracord and a fishing lure that I removed the hooks on. This was about 3' of Paracord which costs about $0.30 and a lure that is a few bucks at most. Overall, I am very happy with how it turned out and excited to see my Cub Scouts wearing it!
